Hopli Terms and Conditions
These are the rules for using Hopli and Rumbo, its travel assistant. We wrote them to be understood; if something isn't clear, write to us at soporte@hopli.app.
Version 1 · Effective from: [pending publication]
In short
This summary doesn't replace the full text, but it covers the essentials:
- Hopli is for people over 18. Your account is personal.
- Hopli helps you plan and live your trip. We are not a travel agency: we don't sell tickets or bookings.
- Rumbo is an artificial intelligence. It proposes; you decide. It can be wrong: confirm visas, entry requirements, schedules and prices with official sources.
- Group accounts are a record so you can agree among yourselves. Hopli doesn't move or hold money.
- Sharing your location is optional and is not an emergency service.
- What you create is yours. We only use it to make Hopli work.
- Hopli Pro is paid for and canceled in the App Store or Google Play.
- None of this takes away the rights your country's law gives you as a consumer.
1. Who we are and how you accept
Hopli is offered by [pending] ([pending]), located at [pending] ("Hopli", "we", "us"). Contact: soporte@hopli.app.
By creating your account you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. We keep a record of which version you accepted and when. That electronic acceptance counts as a signature (Law 527 of 1999 of Colombia).
2. Your account
- You must be 18 or older.
- You sign in with your email, with Apple or with Google. The information you give must be true.
- Your account is yours alone: don't share it or sell it. Take care of access to your email and your phone. If you think someone else got in, write to us.
- You can delete your account whenever you want, from the app (You → Delete account) or from hopli.app/en/delete-account.
3. What Hopli is and what it isn't
Hopli organizes your trip (days, stops, lodging, routes, expenses) and keeps you company while you travel: it tells you what's next, when to leave and how to get there.
Hopli is not:
- A travel agency or a seller of tourism services. We don't book or sell flights, hotels, tours or transportation. If you book something through a link that appears in Hopli, the contract is solely between you and that provider, under its own terms. If one day we receive a commission for a link, we'll say so next to the link.
- An emergency or personal safety service. In an emergency, call the local emergency number.
- Professional advice. Nothing in Hopli is medical, legal, immigration, financial or safety advice.
4. Rumbo, the artificial intelligence assistant
Rumbo runs on an artificial intelligence model from an outside provider (Anthropic). Before your first conversation we show you a notice explaining what data is used and how, and you must accept it.
- Rumbo proposes; you decide. Nothing enters your trip until you confirm it.
- It can be wrong. Its answers may contain inaccurate or outdated information: schedules, prices, distances, holidays, entry requirements. Confirm anything important on official sites before acting, especially visas, vaccines, documents and safety.
- What Rumbo says doesn't bind Hopli beyond these terms. For example, an estimated price is not an offer and a recommendation is not a guarantee.
- Don't ask Rumbo for anything illegal or harmful, and don't try to make it step outside its role. If someone breaks the rules in section 9 with Rumbo, we may limit their use of it, giving notice beforehand except in urgent cases.
- If an answer seems wrong, offensive or dangerous to you, report it from the chat or write to us.
- Rumbo has usage limits: a number of free messages and more with Hopli Pro. The current limits are shown in the app.
5. Third-party information and Google Maps
Hopli shows places, schedules, routes, holidays, weather and prices that come from third parties (for example Google and open databases) or that we calculate from them. This information may change or be incomplete: a place may close, a route may be unavailable, a holiday may move. Use it for planning and confirm it with the source when it matters.
Hopli uses features and content from Google Maps. Its use is governed by the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy, which you also accept by using Hopli.
6. Group travel and shared accounts
- You can invite other people to your trip with a link or a code. Whoever joins sees the trip according to their role. Share the link only with the people you want.
- Group accounts (expenses, who paid, who owes) are a record so you can agree among yourselves. Hopli does not move, collect or hold money, is not a financial institution and does not settle disagreements between members. Balances are calculated from what members enter; if something is wrong, you fix it among yourselves.
- If you add data about other people (companions without an account, their food or mobility needs, their expenses), make sure they agree. It is only used for that trip.
- If you delete your account, the group expenses you paid are deleted and your share of expenses paid by others goes to whoever paid, so everyone else's balances still add up. Group trips you created are handed over to another member or deleted for everyone; the app asks you first.
7. Location
- Hopli uses your phone's location for the live day (what's next, when to leave, notifications on arrival) only if you give it permission, and you can remove it in your phone's settings. The history of places you pass through never leaves your phone.
- Sharing your live location with the group is optional. Each person decides whether to share, and can pause it whenever they want. Don't share another person's location without their permission.
- Location can be inaccurate or arrive late (no signal, battery, buildings). Don't rely on it for your safety or for anyone else's.
8. What you create and upload
- What you create in Hopli is yours: trips, notes, expenses and what you upload.
- You give us permission to store it, copy it between your devices, show it to the people you choose and process it with our providers (including artificial intelligence) only to make Hopli work. We don't use it for advertising or sell it. This permission ends when you delete it or delete your account, except for what remains in a group trip as explained in section 6.
- When you import a trip or read a receipt from a file (Excel, PDF, screenshots, photos), our provider's artificial intelligence reads it to understand it; the file is not stored. Upload only files you have the right to use.
- Don't upload content that is illegal, that harasses or discriminates, that infringes others' rights, or data about other people without their permission.
9. Acceptable use
You may not:
- use Hopli for anything illegal or to harm others;
- harass, impersonate or deceive other people;
- try to access accounts or data that aren't yours, or attack, overload or take apart the service;
- copy Hopli's content in bulk (for example with bots), resell the service or reverse engineer it, except where the law allows;
- get around the usage limits, for example by creating several accounts.
10. Hopli Pro and payments
- Part of Hopli is free. Hopli Pro is a monthly or annual subscription that adds more messages with Rumbo and other features described in the app before you buy.
- It is bought and paid for in the App Store (Apple) or Google Play, with their payment methods and terms. You see the price, with taxes, before you confirm.
- It renews automatically at the end of each period, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. You cancel in the subscription settings of your Apple or Google account; the app takes you there. When you cancel, you keep Pro until the end of the paid period.
- Refunds: they are handled by the store where you bought, under its rules. This doesn't limit the rights your country's law gives you, such as withdrawal or payment reversal, where they apply.
- If the price changes, we'll tell you at least 30 days before and the new price applies from the next period. If you don't agree, you can cancel.
- If there is a free trial, the app says how long it lasts and when billing starts.
11. Intellectual property
Hopli, Rumbo, the logo, the design and the software belong to us or to those who license them to us. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use the app while you have your account. The open source components the app uses have their own licenses (You → About Hopli → Open source licenses).
If you believe something in Hopli infringes your rights, write to us at soporte@hopli.app with the details.
12. Availability and changes to the service
We work to make Hopli run well, even offline, but it may have failures, pauses or errors. We may change, improve or remove features. If a change significantly removes something you paid for, we'll tell you, you can cancel, and we'll refund the proportional part of the period you didn't get to use.
13. Suspension and termination
- You can stop using Hopli and delete your account at any time.
- We may suspend or close an account if these terms are seriously or repeatedly breached, or if the law requires it. Except in urgent cases (for example, to protect other people), we'll tell you beforehand and you can give us your side.
- If we close your account and you haven't breached these terms, we'll refund the proportional part of Hopli Pro that you already paid for and didn't get to use.
14. Liability
- We are responsible for damages that Hopli causes through our fault, as provided by law.
- We are not responsible for what travel service providers (airlines, hotels, transportation, tours) do, for the third-party information we show (section 5), for what other members of your group do, or for decisions you make without confirming what's important (section 4), to the extent the law allows.
- Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer or our liability for willful misconduct or gross negligence, or where the law doesn't allow it to be limited.
15. Governing law and complaints
- These terms are governed by the laws of Colombia. If you live in another country, you are also protected by the consumer rules of your country that cannot be waived.
- If you have a problem, write to us first at soporte@hopli.app: we'll reply with a case number. You can also go to the consumer protection or data authority of your country (Colombia's Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC)) or to a judge.
- We don't force you into arbitration or to give up class actions.
16. Changes to these terms
If we change something important, we'll tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before and ask you to accept the new version. If you don't agree, you can delete your account before it takes effect. Minor changes (wording, clarifications) are published here with their date.
17. If you downloaded Hopli from the App Store
- This agreement is between you and Hopli, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- You may use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, under the usage rules of the App Store Terms.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you can notify Apple and Apple will refund the app's purchase price, if there was one. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Apple is not responsible for claims about the app (product claims, legal compliance claims or consumer protection claims), or for third-party intellectual property claims: we are responsible for those under these terms.
- You declare that you are not in a country subject to a United States embargo or on its lists of restricted parties.
- When using the app you must also comply with any applicable third-party terms, for example those of your data plan.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
